In 1854, a French photographer named Andre Disderi introduced a method of producing glass plate images mounted on card stock known as “Carte de Visite”. Abbreviated “C.D.V.”, these small (approximately 2.5” x 4”) photographs became the rage in both Europe and the United States. Issued primarily during 1860-66, these all but disappeared from production by the early 1870’s. We offer nice non-military Civil War era Carte de Visite cards as follows:
One for $6.95 Ten different for $59.50
