Paul Von Hindenburg was Germany’s greatest hero of World War 1.  He was elected President of Germany in 1925.  In 1932, he ran for President again as the only candidate capable of beating the National Socialist candidate, Adolph Hitler.  He won the election, and perhaps as an attempt at halting his popularity or satisfying his ambitious dreams, made Hitler Chancellor of Germany.
