We have all become accustomed to the motto “In God We Trust” on our coinage and on our currency. However, did you know that this motto did not exist on small United States $1.00 notes until late in series 1935? After that “In God We Trust” was added above the written denomination on the reverse of the note. We have just purchased a large group of these “Agnostic” notes, which in print do not include the motto “In God We Trust”.
