“Desert Fox” WW2 Africa Corps Service Patch
desert fox ww2 africa corps service patch

Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel was one of the most famous German Field Marshals of World War II. Chosen by Hitler as Commander of the German Africa Corps, Rommel quickly earned the nickname “Desert Fox” for the skillful military campaigns he waged. In contrast to many other figures in Nazi Germany, Rommel was considered to be chivalrous and humane. When Hitler made orders to kill civilians and capture Jewish soldiers within theaters of his command, Rommel defiantly ignored them. Following the defeat of the Axis powers in North Africa, and while defending occupied France, Rommel’s fortunes changed. After becoming a suspect in the failed July 20, 1944 plot to kill Hitler, he was forced to commit suicide. From the battlegrounds of World War II North Africa, we have acquired a very limited quantity of service patches used by the troops of General Rommel. Made of cloth, this patch measures over two inches and is in very nice condition.
