George Wallace Collection
george wallace collection

George Wallace gave President Kennedy fits during the Civil Rights Movement in 1963. Standing defiantly at the door of the State University in Alabama, he refused to allow admission of two black students. Kennedy was forced to send in the National Guard and only then did Governor Wallace step aside. Wallace was very headstrong and determined, so in 1968 he established the American Independent Party and ran as its Presidential candidate against Nixon and Humphrey. Although soundly defeated, he did receive almost 10 million votes. We offer a red, white and blue 1.75” button and a five inch by three inch election card from George Wallace’s 1968 Presidential campaign for your consideration.
