Carter-Mondale vs Ford-Dole (1976) Campaign Button

For the Democrats, there were twelve candidates for president; most notable were Jimmy Carter, Jerry Brown and George Wallace. For the Republicans, there were just two candidates: Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. At the D.N.C., held in New York City, Jimmy Carter was the nominee. At the R.N.C., held in Kansas City, Gerald Ford beat out Ronald Reagan with a narrow margin of victory. In the November Presidential election, Carter was victorious with a popular vote advantage of 1,683,247 and an electoral margin of 57.
