The years 1910-1917 produced a civil war in Mexico between the government forces of President Diaz and his successor, Victoriano Huerta, and the revolutionary forces of Francisco Madero, Emiliano Zapata, et al. Madero was elected president in 1911, but was betrayed, arrested and shot a little over a year later. His portrait survives on the left side (Juarez at right) of these beautiful Crisp Uncirculated bank notes, printed by the American Bank Note Company in 1915 for the Mexican state of Sonora.
