This 1984 Republican National Convention copper-nickel medallion not only knocked the Democratic nominee Walter Mondale but also took a few pot shots at his predecessor, Jimmy Carter. On one side is an exaggerated cartoon caricature of Mondale sporting a Jimmy Durante nose, with comments about inflation and Fritz’s lack of policy. On the other side is Jimmy Carter looking more like Mister Ed than the former President and he is flanked by the likeness of the Ayatollah.
